Denver, NC (October 12, 2017)- For Tanner Gray, as a five-time national event winner, having success at this weekend's 32nd annual AAA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex in Ennis Texas is imperative in keeping his championship dreams within reach.
After a premature departure at last weekend’s event in St. Louis, Tanner got pushed back to number four in the countdown points race.
“Our championship run is not over," Gray said. "Yes, we had a fall back in St. Louis but our team still has the determination to continue to battle for this pro stock championship. I have all of the confidence in my Gray Motorsports team.”
The Texas Motorplex serves as the 22nd of 24 events in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series and the fourth of six races in the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship playoffs.
“Heading into the last 3 races of the countdown, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I have gotten the mistakes out of the way and realize what the pressure can do when you allow it to get to you. I have been blessed with great equipment that should not be put on the trailer by a first round loss, but I guess that’s racing!”
Mello Yello Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 2:15 and 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, and the final two rounds of qualifying on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1:15 and 4:15 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.
